1. Gather Tools Needed

a. Gather tools needed for the job:

  • Torque Wrench
  • Socket Wrench
  • Breaker Bar
  • 18MM Wrench
  • 15MM Wrench
  • 18MM Socket
  • 17MM Socket
  • 15MM Socket
  • 8MM Allen Socket

2. Raise the vehicle and prepare for installation

a. Safely support the vehicle by the frame and remove the wheels.

3. Remove shock

a. Loosen the sway bar link nut but do not fully remove.

4. Remove shock continued

a. Remove the upper shock mounting nuts.

b. Remove the lower shock mounting bolts.

c. Remove the shock from the vehicle.

5. Install the Dirt King shock

a. Note: Aftermarket upper control arms are recommended to allow for the additional down travel that the coilovers provide.

b. Insert the Dirt King shock through the upper control arm while prying down on the lower control arm.

6. Install the Dirt King shock continued

a. Align the lower mounting bar pin to the lower control arm. Ensure the flat surface of the bar pin sits flush on the control arm and the rounded side faces up.

b. Apply red thread locker to the lower shock bolts and torque to 60 ft-lbs.

7. Install the Dirt King shock continued

a. Install the upper shock nuts and washers and torque to 35 ft-lbs.

8. Install the Dirt King shock continued

a. Torque the sway bar end link nut to 17 ft-lbs.

9. Review your work and repeat steps on the other side of the vehicle

a. Inspect all components to ensure they are properly installed.

b. Reinstall the wheels and torque the lug nuts to your wheel manufacturer’s specifications.

c. Have the vehicle aligned at a certified shop. If equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensure recalibration is performed.
