Parts Included
1. Raise the vehicle and prepare for install
a. Safely raise the vehicle. Ensure that you have safety stands to secure the vehicle while lifted.
b. Remove the front wheels.
2. Remove shock
a. Remove steering tie rod nut. Separate the tie rod from the steering knuckle using a tie rod puller.
b. Remove the front sway bar link from the steering knuckle.
c. Remove the upper shock hardware.
d. Remove the lower shock hardware.
e. Remove the shock from the vehicle.
3. Remove the upper control arm
a. Remove ABS lines from the upper control arm.
b. Remove the ball joint nut. Separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle using a ball joint puller. Support the steering knuckle.
c. Remove the rear upper control arm hardware at the chassis.
d. Remove the upper control arm from the chassis.
4. Install the new Dirt King upper control arm
a. NOTE: Aftermarket shocks are required for the additional down travel the control arms will provide.
b. Insert the Dirt King upper control arm into the rear chassis mounts.
c. Torque the rear hardware to the manufacturer's specifications: 118 ft-lbs.
d. Insert the ball joint into the steering knuckle.
e. Torque ball joint nut to 65 ft-lbs. NOTE: DO NOT USE IMPACT TOOLS AS DAMAGE WILL OCCUR TO THREADS.
f. Reinstall the shock using your specific manufacturer’s instructions.
g. Install the tie rod onto the steering knuckle and torque to the manufacturer's specifications: First pass 26 ft-lbs, final pass 90–105 degrees.
h. Reinstall the sway bar link at the steering knuckle and torque to the manufacturer's specifications: 118 ft-lbs.
i. Secure the ABS line to the tabs on the upper control arm using the provided zip ties.
5. Inspect your work
a. Inspect your work and repeat the steps on the other side of the vehicle.
6. Mount wheels and align vehicle
a. Mount your wheels and torque the lug nuts to your wheel manufacturer's specifications.
b. Have the vehicle aligned at a certified shop. If equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensure recalibration is performed.
