1. Raise the vehicle and prepare for installation
a. Safely raise and support the vehicle.b. Remove the front wheels.
2. Remove the shocks
a. Remove the brake line, wheel speed sensor, and brake wear sensor from the upper control arm and knuckle.b. Remove the sway bar end link from the lower control arm.
c. Remove the ball joint nut and separate the upper control arm from the knuckle using a ball joint separator.
d. Remove shock upper and lower hardware.
e. Remove shock.
3. Install the Dirt King shock
a. Attach the shock to the coil bucket and torque the supplied upper hardware to 35 ft lbs.b. Apply red thread locker to the lower shock bolts and torque to 50 ft lbs.
b. Note: For optimal performance and ride comfort, replace the 2” rear block with a 1.5” lift block.
4. Install upper control arm
a. Note: Aftermarket upper control arms are required with these shocks to allow for the additional down travel that the shocks provide.b. Install the upper control arm ball joint to the knuckle and torque the ball joint nut according to your control arm manufacturer’s specifications.
c. Reattach the clamps for the brake line, wheel speed sensor, and brake pad wear sensor.
d. Reconnect the sway bar link and torque to 74 ft lbs.
5. Review your work and repeat steps on the other side of the vehicle
a. Inspect all components to ensure they are correctly installed.6. Reinstall the wheels and align the vehicle
a. Torque lug nuts to your wheel manufacturer’s specifications.b. Have the vehicle aligned at a certified shop. If equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensure recalibration is performed.
