1. Gather tools needed

a. Gather tools needed for the job:

  • Torsion key unloading tool
  • Socket Set
  • Socket wrench
  • Tape Measure

2. Raise vehicle

a. Safely support the vehicle by the frame and ensure the suspension is fully drooped out.

b. Using a tape measure, measure all exposed threads on the torsion key adjuster bolt.

c. Note: This measurement will be used upon reassembly to establish a baseline.

3. Torsion key tool usage

a. Place the torsion key unloading tool onto the key as shown in the image. Ensure the tool seats in the dimple of the torsion key.

b. Tighten the torsion key tool to relieve tension from the adjuster bolt.

4. Torsion key removal

a. Once tension is removed from the bolt, safely remove the bolt and adjuster nut.

b. Note: If the adjuster nut and bolt are tight, there is still tension that must be released before proceeding. Use extreme caution.

5. Torsion key removal (continued)

a. Once the adjuster nut and bolt are removed, safely loosen the torsion key tool to remove all tension from the torsion bar.

b. Slide the torsion bar toward the front of the vehicle to allow the torsion key to drop out of its pocket.

6. Torsion key install

a. Place the new torsion key into its pocket and slide the torsion bar back into place. Ensure the key is installed on the bar in the same orientation as it was removed.

b. Reinstall the torsion key tool and tighten until the adjuster nut can be reinstalled through the frame slot.

7. Torsion key install (continued)

a. Once the adjuster nut is installed, reinstall the adjuster bolt while assisting it with the torsion key tool.

b. At this stage, set the bolt to the same measurement that was taken in the first step. Once set, safely remove the tool.

c. Ride height can be adjusted with this bolt. Refer to the "Setting Ride Height" document before proceeding.
