1. Raise the vehicle and prepare for installation

a. Safely raise and support the vehicle.

b. Remove the front wheels.

c. Remove the wheel aprons to the left and right of the upper control arm.

2. Remove the brake line and loosen upper control arm components

a. Remove the brake line bracket bolt to create clearance for the upper control arm bolt. Do not loosen any brake line fittings.

b. Remove the ball joint cotter pin and castle nut.

c. Separate the upper control arm from the steering knuckle using a ball joint puller.

3. Remove the upper control arm

a. Detach the ABS line from the upper control arm.

b. Remove the pivot bolt nut and push the bolt through just enough to expose the bolt shank for cutting.

c. Cut the head off the pivot bolt using an appropriate tool. Take extreme caution to avoid cutting nearby lines or chassis components. (A replacement bolt is included in the kit.)

d. Remove the remaining portion of the bolt by pulling it rearward, away from the core support. Cautiously move the brake line bracket just enough to clear bolt.

4. Install the Dirt King upper control arm

a. Place the supplied washers on the outsides of the bushings and insert the new supplied pivot bolt from the rear to the front, toward the core support. Apply red thread locker and torque the nut to 85 ft-lbs.

b. Install the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Torque the nut to 81 ft-lbs.

c. Reattach the ABS line to the control arm using the supplied line clamp.

d. Reinstall the brake line bracket. Torque the bolt to 24 ft-lbs.

e. If you are running remote reservoise shocks, verify that the shock reservoir hose has sufficient clearance and is not pinched.

f. Reinstall the factory wheel well aprons securely to the left and right of the upper control arm. Ensure all fasteners are properly tightened.

5. Review and repeat on the other side

a. Inspect all components to ensure they are correctly installed.

b. Confirm that the ABS line has enough slack.

c. Ensure all fasteners are properly tightened.

6. Reinstall wheels and align the vehicle

a. Reinstall wheels and torque lug nuts to your wheel manufacturer’s specifications.

b. Have the vehicle aligned at a certified shop. If equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensure recalibration is performed.
